Zedrick Maurice Warner, Jr. affectionally known as ZJ, lived a life full of love and laughter November 25, 2003 - June 30, 2024. During his short life, Zedrick had a passion for tinkering with items such as tv wires, computer cables, vacuum cleaner, etc. This passion led him to wanting to become an Engineer. He enrolled at Jackson State University in the Fall 2022 where he pursued this degree until his untimely death. During his enrollment, he became apart of the Battery Workforce team that was sponsored by Argonne. ZJ was so passionate about the team, that he was voted president after the team returned from a competition in Chicago, IL. ZJ’s motto was “We must be innovative in our own life before we can help others.”
Zedrick was a victim of gun-violence. His mother, LaToya Mason, strongly feels that in order to decrease gun-violence, an alternative must be provided to inner city youth. The incentive to help the youth as well as their parents, who have been impacted by gun-violence, was created so that young people do not have to give up their dreams because of the circumstances the world has boxed them in. This foundation was founded to fulfill Zedrick’s motto for others who may need a little motivation to be the person that their heart desires. We are confident that Zedrick would be proud to see a program built for young people that helps them to become the best part of themselves by working hard to conquer their dreams as well as having the support of family and friends.
