About Zedrick Maurice Warner Jr.

Zedrick Maurice Warner Jr., affectionately known as ZJ, lived a life filled with love, purpose, and ambition from November 25, 2003, to June 30, 2024. From a young age, he was passionate about engineering and loved working with electronics and technology. He later attended Jackson State University, where he pursued an engineering degree and became a leader on the Battery Workforce team sponsored by Argonne National Laboratory. His peers later voted him team president after a competition in Chicago. ZJ lived by the motto, “We must be innovative in our own life before we can help others.”

After Zedrick tragically became a victim of gun violence, his mother, LaToya Mason, founded this organization to honor his legacy and create opportunities for youth impacted by violence and limited resources. The foundation exists to inspire, support, and empower young people to pursue their dreams, overcome obstacles, and become the best version of themselves through mentorship, opportunity, and community support.
